Opening a CO2IN account takes about two minutes. These answers cover who can register, how to do it, and what a new account can do before it is verified.

Who can register for a CO2IN account?

You must be at least 15 years old and have permanent residence in one of the supported countries — currently the EEA, the United Kingdom and Switzerland.

How do I sign up?

You can register either in the Client Portal or in the CO2IN mobile app. Choose Sign up, enter your full name, email address and phone number, then set a password and a PIN.

Registration works in either place, but verifying your identity can only be done in the mobile app. Until you verify, withdrawal stays switched off and top-ups are capped at €400.

Can I register as a company?

Yes. Choose the business or sole-trader option during sign-up. A company account asks for some additional details about the entity before verification can complete.

Which countries are supported?

CO2IN is available across the EEA, the United Kingdom and Switzerland. The same list applies to verification — your identity document must be issued by one of them.

What is the minimum age to open an account?

The minimum age is 15.

Under-18s open an account the same way and start with the same €400 limit as anyone unverified. Verifying raises it, but only to €4,000 rather than the full €10,000 — see limits.

What can I do before I verify my account?

A registered account can:

  • top up in EUR or CZK
  • buy and sell CO2IN
  • send and receive CO2IN payments
  • use the carbon calculator and earn achievements

Withdrawal is the one thing that stays switched off until your account is verified.

What limits apply before verification?

Two, both required by anti-money-laundering rules:

  • The sum of all top-ups cannot exceed €400. This is cumulative, so it does not reset — and money received above it is returned to the account it came from.
  • Withdrawal is disabled entirely.

Verifying your account lifts both, raising the top-up limit to €10,000.
